Italian Indigenous Varieties: Negro Amaro Precoce

This week’s indigenous variety is called Negro Amaro Precoce. It was found in some of the Negro Amaro vineyards in the Salento but is apparently it’s own biotype because it matures some 20 days before most Negro Amaro. Precoce or Cannellino means precocious and this grape vine is apparently just that. It has the same aromas and flavors of a typical Negro Amaro which I wrote about here. I love visiting Puglia and it’s been way to long since my last trip. Visiting virtually through this blog is always fun though.  I’ve written extensively about Puglia in various post on this blog, some of which can be found here.
