OperaWine, the Wine Spectator presentation of their selection of the best Italian wines is in its 6th year I believe. I’ve been to every one of them and now it is the beginning of Vinitaly to me, every year I see producers I know whose wines I love and others that I only read about. I always try to have a strategy but whether I taste Piedmont before Tuscany or vice versa, the rooms are so crowded that I never get to taste everything I would like to. This year I tasted some special wines that I hadn’t had before including wine by La Stoppa, Elvio Cogno and Ippolito 1845. All three very different and very memorable wines. I also tasted Galatrona from Petrolo which I like a lot and Terre Brune from Santadi, again, I special wine to me. So much wine and so little time,
