Le Beaujolais est arrivé! It’s November 15, the third Thursday in November and Beaujolais Nouveau, the first wine of the harvest makes it’s entrance onto the market. I always run right out and buy a bottle at my local liquor store. They had one brand – George Duboeuf. The marvelous company that basically owns the Beaujolais company in the U.S. All 96 Beaujolais villages are allowed to produce Nouveau. Nouveau made with the Gamay grape, a great pairing at Thanksgiving by the way, must be hand harvested and undergo semi-carbonic maceration. It has aromas of bright red fruits and thin tannins. I even like the slightly candied flavors. It’s a happy wine and an antidote to this snowy Thursday evening. At under $15, the price can’t be beat. Here’s a wonderful article by Michele Williams in Forbes.com about the wine. Salut!!
