I read the news today that Linda Lawry, DWS, CWE,CSS of International Wine Center fame has retired. Linda was a marvelous professor when I was studying for my Diploma in Wines & Spiritus. Funny and incredibly knowledgeable, she brooked no silly comments.
I learned so much from Linda about French wines through the center and thanks to all the seminars she has done at the Society of Wine Educators conferences.
I am happy for her as she moves into this new well deserved phase. She will still be teaching classes at the center so even more students will benefit from her amazing knowledge base and tasting experience. Thank you Linda.

I wrote this post about Linda three years ago when she retired. I received the sad news yesterday that she passed away last week on Thanksgiving. Linda was an icon in the New York wine education scene. She was incredibly knowledgeable, wry, and did not suffer fools gladly. She was also kind and funny. I feel honored to have been her student in my WSET DIploma classes. I liked and respected Linda so much and am much saddened by her passing, as I know so many others are in the industry.
