As Labor Day approaches and summer days begin to feel like fall-especially here on the Cape, I am overcome with the end of summer blues, poetically called “Sindrome da Rientro” in Italian. I found an article in Corriere della Sera which gives many suggestions to make the return to daily life more palatable. Here are three ideas that I favor from the article.
1. Leave one or two days of your vacation to be on holiday in the City before going back to work – rientro morbido.
2. Look at your photos, videos, make recipes from the trip – allungare la vacanza
3. Create reachable goals for the first few weeks – non strafare
I love that the Italians are worried about how to manage post-vacation blues. In the USA many don’t even get vacations and when we do, we certainly are not given articles about how to re-enter daily life. At least I haven’t seen any of those.
As I ponder the beautiful two week trip I just had to the Cape, I may sip on something from the Truro Vineyards. I have had their Chardonnay in years past and this year, the rose above.
Their rose is made from 100% Grenache. They use whole cluster pressing and ferment in 100% Stainless steel. I liked it and it was a perfect end of summer wine to celebrate the season, friends and family. Salute!
