Thinking about Texas and the wine industry there today as I watch the terrible scenes of flooding, devastation and drama. Death and loss are of course the most important subjects that I am thinking about today and the evolving threats to health and water supply. Still the Texas wine industry employs many people and as an article that I read today in the New York Times about Sandy recovery noted, work in times of stress can be very important.
I have no direct information from the Texas wineries but found these articles online about the industry. And this one as well from The Texas Tribune. As well as these ideas for relief efforts from Jeremy and Tracie Parzen at Dobianchi.
I’ve done a few events in Texas through the years and found an exciting and vibrant wine community. I’m sure they will rise to the challenge but it may be a long haul before rebound. Thinking of all of them.
