I love to be a tourist in my own city. I am constantly discovering parts of New York that I don’t know well and cool wine shops that weren’t on my radar. Today was one of those days. Thanks to Peter at PGM wines, I discovered Pompette and the two brothers who run it.
Mozel is the one in the picture. He told me that they are looking to be a community shop and true to his word, I found cards for his hairstylist, real estate offerings and an area for kids to draw while their parents choose wines. What a great idea! I also found that he hung the photos on his wall. He basically had me at hello but that was because of his funky wine selections.
Mozel told me that they were going to open a wine bar on the corner next to their shop next summer. I look forward to going back to Pompette and seeing what they offer.
