Monday Musings: Indigenous Grape Variety Series

I have decided to go back to the Italian indigenous grape series that I have been writing on this blog since 2009. My last entry in the series was May 2024 and the grape was Pascale Nero from Sardinia. I posted it two days before my world changed when my Dad died unexpectedly on May 28th, 2024. Time is not always linear but somehow I have found my way back to this topic so dear to my heart for so many years.

In addition to the personal loss, I stopped writing about the topic because everyone joined the bandwagon. Somehow I thought continuing to add my voice was irrelevent. It’s actually one of the reasons I stopped posting on Instragram mostly one year ago. Lately though, I have a new thought which soneone else described beautifully in the introduction to her new book. She called it a choral conversation. She wasn’t referring to writing about indigenous grapes but about Italian food. I liked that concept thoush, the idea that there is a big conversation, like a big political tent, with room for many voices. Many people write and show their sites as the definitive source on Italian wine. I don’t make that claim. I do however strive to give good information, tips, and present off the beaten path grapes, wines, and locations in order to share what I have had the privielge to learn, taste, and experience. Those are my goals and I will post the lastest installment of that series this week.

Mondays are new beginnings, even when its raining.
