Saturday Sips: 2017 Argyle Vintage Brut from Oregon

I loved celebrating my Mom last week with this amazing sparkler from Argyle. Located in the Dundee Hills in Oregon, I first discovered this winery in 2017 when I visited the area during a Society of Wine Educators Conference.  Since May is #OregonWineMonth and I just had a bottle for Mother’s Day, I thought I would revisit old writings about the wine.

Thus Vintage Brut 2017 is a blend of grapes I love, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Oregon. I love wines that are fresh and bright wines acidity, minerality, with white stone fruit and forest floor , and a hint of spice. This wine had all of that going on and it also had a small percentage of Pinot Meunier which adds floral notes. Lovely perlage with numerous fine bubbles, this was a great addition and a welcome part of our celebration.

Argyle was founded in 1987 by Rollin Soles. His idea was to make world class sparkling wines in the cool Willamette Valley. In my view he was quite successful in his endeavor.
