Monday Musings: Spanish Wines for Summer

Cape Cod, Long Nook Beach @SusannahGold

Summer Time and the Livin is easy. It’s official, it’s summer, beaches are open, people are going out, and life has a more relaxed vibe than it has for the past 15 months. Thoughts turn to what I will be drinking this summer and for this next week, it’s all Spanish wines as I gear up for my Spanish Wine Scholar exam. I am excited because this week I will be opening all kinds of bottles I had bought for my studies. With one of the blogging groups I am part of, #WorldWineTravel, we have been spending the year writing about different parts of Spain. This month we are traveling to Basque Country of Txakoli fame. This wonderful slightly sparkling wine is a perfect one for summer. I am also tasting a Listan Negro from the Canary Islands, dreaming of future trips. Listan has beautiful cherry, smoke and plum flavors with soft tannins. It reminds me of Gamay and Groppello from Lake Garda. I love drinking light red wines in summer too. Spain has so much to offer.

This Monday I am musing about when I will visit Spain again and what I will be drinking this summer. Summer thoughts, finally.
