Later this evening, I will be assisting Altacucina Society in hosting a tasting of Italian Red Sparkling Wines. I know, it sounds funny, but there are many red sparklers in Il Bel Paese. Some use the term frizzante while others are labeled spumante. This depends are their production methods, traditions and a whole host of factors which will be explained this evening.
