Today’s post is about a restaurant and winery I visited in September 2023 on a press trip to Oltrepò Pavese. The restaurant is called @ilfeudonico in #oltrepòpavese, specifically in Morenico Losana.
The Madama family has been farming this land since the 1800s. Four generations later, today it is Massimo who runs the winery with his father and the restaurant following in the footsteps of his parents who work alongside him. They make traditional dishes from local products either from their garden or nearby producers. We had many specialities from the area including some homemade salami that is a passion of Edoardo who is credited with turning around the company and making it what it is today. Edoardo was awarded the distinction of #cavalieredellavoro from the #Italianstate. Massimo’s Mom Gabriella makes incredible pastas and is the queen of the restaurant’s kitchen.
Massimo showed us around the winery and we tasted a number of their wines and their olive oil pictured above. My favorite was the #brutnaturemetodoclassico that we tasted called Maria Antonietta after his grandmother. Elegant and lively, it was a beautiful 100% Pinot Nero #oltrepopavesemetodoclassicodocg which spent 36 months on the lees. This was my second visit to the restaurant and my first to the winery. I look forward to returning.
The homemade Salami was a kick and unexpected. I found the food paired well with the brut nature and the other sparklers we tasted. Cannot wait for my next visit.
