For today's Wine Wednesday, thinking about this great #barbaresco I tried. This family winery is run by Gianluca Battaglio. The family has been making wines in this same area for generations. Barbaresco is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The history of the name is still hotly debated whether it stems from the barbarian hoards that tried to conquer the area or from the name of the woods that dominated these hills which the Romans called barbarica silva or wild woods. The production area for Barbaresco includes the towns of Barbaresco, Treiso, and Neive and also part of Alba.
This lovely blend from @ventisquero_wines is a perfect wine for fall. The winery was created in 1998 in the Maipo Valley. They have extended from that initial footprint and today have vineyards in Casablanca, Colchagua, Leyda and Huasco Valleys. Ventisquero has a team of winemakers led by Felipe Tosso with Alejandro Galaz and Australian icon John Duval. I have tasted a number of their wines from the Grey Collection. This one would be perfect with grilled meats I think with Mediterranean herbs. #chile #chileanwines #colchagua #colchaguavalley
