Attempting A Dry January

New Year’s Resolutions for me always include getting in better shape, losing weight, decluttering, and for the last few years Dry January. I confess I have never made it the whole month. This year my quest starts today and I have to admit I had a hard time not reaching to open a bottle while I had dinner. That was enough to convince me that it’s worth trying. I know many people find themselves feel better drinking less. I think I will sleep better and more consistently. We shall see. One day at a time. I will still be writing about all the lovely libations I had in 2023 and all those I look forward to having later this year.

I have heard a few tips:

  1. Always have water with lemons or limes when you are looking for a drink
  2. Keep cranberry juice on hand and have something fun to put into it like an umbrella.
  3. Flavor your ice with citrus or herbs to make water more interesting
  4. Many non-alcoholic beverages are available too.
  5. Non-alcoholic bitters can also be a fun addition to your beverage list this month.

Let me know if you have any suggestions, tips, and stories about your own dry January. I have some nonalcoholic beer at home that I may reach for during the month. We shall see.

Lot of articles on this top branch out from a dry January about alcohol and include other items such as getting your finances in order, reducing spending, etc. I like this article I just saw on the topic.
