New Year’s Resolutions for me always include getting in better shape, losing weight, decluttering, and for the last few years Dry January. I confess I have never made it the whole month. This year my quest starts today and I have to admit I had a hard time not reaching to open a bottle while I had dinner. That was enough to convince me that it’s worth trying. I know many people find themselves feel better drinking less. I think I will sleep better and more consistently. We shall see. One day at a time. I will still be writing about all the lovely libations I had in 2023 and all those I look forward to having later this year.
I have heard a few tips:
- Always have water with lemons or limes when you are looking for a drink
- Keep cranberry juice on hand and have something fun to put into it like an umbrella.
- Flavor your ice with citrus or herbs to make water more interesting
- Many non-alcoholic beverages are available too.
- Non-alcoholic bitters can also be a fun addition to your beverage list this month.
Let me know if you have any suggestions, tips, and stories about your own dry January. I have some nonalcoholic beer at home that I may reach for during the month. We shall see.
Lot of articles on this top branch out from a dry January about alcohol and include other items such as getting your finances in order, reducing spending, etc. I like this article I just saw on the topic.
