The Lion King – Sipping Graham Beck Sparkling Wine

Tonight I am fulfilling a promise to my nephew and taking him to the Lion King. It’s been a long time coming, maybe four years but the cost of the show seemed so outrageous. Earlier on it would have been two tickets but now it’s three since my five year old is of course coming as well. I’m looking forward to hanging out with these two. Were I sipping something while watching it, it would be the Brut Rosé bubbly from Graham Beck. I’m not sure where the Lion King is supposed to be based but for it brought South Africa to mind for me. I love this wine which I often find at a certain store in New Jersey where I buy lots of wine. I love its salmon hue and fruity notes together with its nice perlage, structure and length. It’s a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from their properties in Robertson and Stellenbosch. The wine is made using whole cluster pressing. The winemaker Pieter ‘Bubbles’ Ferreira believes firmly in making quality sparkling wines. This traditional method sparkler is perfect with all sorts of food. I’m in my first week of my first ever dry January so I am ‘virtually” sipping this wine. It’s been 6 days and I can say I am sleeping more soundly but this is hard and much less fun than an occasional glass or more than that but it was time for a break.

When I do end the break, it will be bubbles and then more bubbles on the top of the list.
